How to Avoid Buying A Lemon
When a person buys a used car that is nothing but problems, the car is known as a lemon. This is because owning the car is such a sour experience. Naturally, anyone shopping for a pre-owned vehicle wants to avoid getting a lemon.
To avoid buying used cars that are a lemon, check the vehicles history if possible. This is much easier when you are shopping at a dealership. The more you know about the history, the better. Since most private sellers sell their pre-owned autos as is, look for cars at a dealership that possibly offers a warranty. Some pre-owned cars still have the remainder of the manufacturers warranty left.
When shopping for vehicles, do a careful inspection of the interior and exterior before your test drive. If you do not know what to look for, pay a mechanic to come along if you can afford it. If not, ask a friend or relative that knows about car repair to come along on your test drive. They should be able to spot what may be a major problem down the road just by how the car handles and sounds.
Another good idea is to search online for the make and model of any car you are considering seriously. Look for owners that have complaints or praise for that model. Numerous complaints about one certain aspect of the vehicle can point out what you should check more closely.
